Many people have already pondered wise, detailed, sometimes unconvincing, and perhaps even unnecessary thoughts about art, its history, its meaning and purpose, and even just the definition of the term.

But I want to start much smaller here:

Namely, with you!

So here's an idea / a thought experiment, without claiming completeness and in a casual manner:

Imagine you could try out anything that piques your curiosity without any limitations. Without harm or danger to yourself or others.

Imagine nobody criticizing you for mistakes. Technically, there are no mistakes. The only critic is initially yourself. Yes, I know that criticism can be pretty harsh. But if you first embrace your inner critic and listen to it, you can learn much more about yourself than you might imagine right now.

Imagine you have time just for yourself, your ideas, desires, daydreams, and (if you want) even your feelings and emotions. Yes, even those that sometimes bring fear, doubt, anger, etc. But further imagine that you can experience, change, combine, illuminate, and understand all that is wholly protected, in your own space, with your music and lighting.

And now, imagine doing all that in the dosage, intensity, seriousness, or playfulness that suits you. And yes, you're even allowed to have fun.

As if that weren't enough, you can do it as often and as much as you want, and every time will be new, exciting, and familiar.

And now it gets even better: If you like, you can do all of this with friends, in groups, during the day or at night, outdoors or indoors, in any season, and in almost any place in the world.

This can also be art, or "BEING CREATIVE," for you. It costs nothing to enter. You don't need special training. There are no admission requirements, no restrictions, and above all...

... You don't need permission!

Just do what you want!

Take any pen; choose "your" colors, paper, a piece of wood, charcoal, a roll of old wallpaper, watercolors or gouache, oil paints, or whatever else appeals to you.

Yes, and then?

Quite simply, then you just start. There are no mistakes and no right or wrong. You decide all of that. Paint, draw, create—just for yourself, just for your moment, completely free and unrestricted.

You don't have to show it, sell it, or evaluate it. You can keep it, change it, or throw it away. But do it; try it out.

You will find something in it for yourself, ranging from a small moment of peace, joy, and fun to an understanding of yourself and others.

It may sound cheesy, but it's true nonetheless: The voice of creativity is in each of us. It just sometimes speaks very softly and shyly. Just listen to it. Because it's your voice; it belongs to you and only wants good for you!

So:

Just do what you want!

I look forward to all the things you will create.
